In 2007 I was asked for a very special project. IAA Architects wanted to make a special interior design for a geriatric ward in the Solis ‘Groote en Voorster’, a home for the elderly in my home town Deventer.
We came up with big photo wallpaper for the general rooms (with photos from my archive) and a special way for the inhabitants to find their room. Since most of them were suffering from dementia, we placed a unique photo at each door. All the photos used were from the city archive of Deventer, so a lot of the people recognized the scene depicted. In that way they had another way to remember were their room was. We also colour coded each floor to help them even more.
